In Mexico and the USA an outbreak of Influenza-like illness had occurred, the CDC reported seven cases of novel A/H1N1 influenza In April 2009. The confirmed cases of novel influenza A in the southwest US and the outbreak of ILI in Mexico were related in April 24. by May 7 the number of confirmed cases rising to 2,099, The disease then spread very rapidly although the Mexican government have taken aggressive measures. the first global pandemic since the 1968 Hong Kong flu has happen after the WHO declared an H1N1 pandemic, moving the alert level to phase 6 On June 11, 2009.

Question: can we get effected by this influenza if we eat pork??

The answer is no. these virus not transmitted through food. Cooking pork to an internal temperature of 70ºC and above kills the swine flu virus. Eating properly handled and cooked pork and pork products is safe.
